(April 13, 2023), Starkville, MS -- Georgia Starr, a Mississippi State University undergrad and incoming Disability Studies graduate student in the Department of Kinesiology recently spoke at the Columbus Rotary Club about Mississippi State's upcoming iCanSwim Camp, which teaches special needs children and adults swimming skills. Starr works in the summers as an iCanSwim instructor for iCanShine. iCanShine is the national charity which partner's with the Department of Kinesiology to put on iCanSwim and iCan Bike camps in Starkville. iCanBike teaches special needs children and adults how to ride a two-wheel bike independently. Starr spoke about the benefits of the camp related to health, play and developing swimming skills and water safety. She also emphasized the need for more campers and volunteers for both iCanSwim and iCanBike.
